Islands reimagines the act of 3D rending. By 3D printing the models, programming the camera track with a motion control arm and shooting with 16mm analog film, the process of 3D rendering happens physically, in a studio setting instead inside a 3D render program. I designed these shapes after being inspired by the rough, sculptural islands in the Scottish Hebredes, which I visited during a sailing trip. The camera investigates these island shapes curiously and moves freely around them, as if they where large structures from a different reality.
